Italian I is an introductory course that emphasizes the basic skills of reading, writing, and speaking Italian, as well as some translation. This course offers students, especially those in the culinary arts, the opportunity to learn, understand, and use Italian while also reinforcing their English competencies. Italian II continues to emphasize the skills of reading, writing, and speaking in Italian as well as translation. More advanced Italian constructions are stressed. The semester continues with exercises in pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. There is strong emphasis on spoken proficiency and cultural awareness.
